Holiday Give List

If you’re able to get into the spirit of giving, here’s a list of just a handful of organizations we love!

Give your time, moola or space to share and raise awareness for these important causes. Anything helps, any time of year :)

Asian Mental Health Collective

AMHC’s mission is to normalize and de-stigmatize mental health within the Asian community.

Baby2Baby

Baby2Baby provides children living in poverty with diapers, clothing and all the basic necessities that every child deserves.

Earth Echo

Covering 70 percent of the Earth's surface, the ocean transports heat from the equator to the poles, regulating our climate and weather patterns. For this reason, climate change—the warming of the earth and all of the critical problems it causes — is fundamentally an ocean issue.

Earth Echo’s mission is to build a global youth movement to protect and restore our ocean planet.

FarmLink

FarmLink’s mission is to find solutions for food insecurity.

No one should have to go to bed hungry while perfectly viable produce goes to waste. This produce shouldn’t have to be “rescued” from rotting in fields or being sent to the landfill, either; why were we ever letting this produce go to waste in the first place? These are systemic issues that our society needs to address.

For now, The Farmlink Project is acting as the link connecting the broken supply chains in the agricultural and food access industries to understocked and underfunded food banks.

Hate is a Virus Community Action Fund

First launched as a movement in March 2020 in response to the spike in hate crimes against Asian Americans post-COVID-19, their goal is to amplify, educate and activate AAPI to stand for justice and equality in solidarity with other communities through local and national awareness campaigns, creating space for dialogue and education, and providing actionable steps and funding in partnership with trusted community leaders.

Hope Blooms

Hope Blooms engages youth in the high needs community of North End Halifax to become change agents. They create innovative environments for long term impact in food security, education, social inclusion and disrupting the cycle of poverty. The community builds urban organic food systems for everyone’s benefit. Programs are based on experiential learning. This social entrepreneurship creates an impact that is inspiring and supportive.

Jane Goodall Institute

JGI’s impactful community-led conservation work helps to protect endangered chimpanzees and other great apes, restore and grow critical habitat, improve human well-being, and empower the next generation of changemakers through Roots & Shoots.

Lions Story

Lions Story believes that everyone has a racial story that matters. Their mission is to increase racial literacy— which is the ability to read, recast, and resolve racially stressful social interactions and narratives.

The more we practice the skills of racial literacy, the more competent we become in navigating stressful encounters across various personal and professional contexts, decreasing stress and bolstering health and wellbeing in ourselves, each other and our systems.

Trevor Project

The Trevor Project is the world’s largest suicide prevention and crisis intervention organization for LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and questioning) young people.

They advocate against disproven, harmful laws, policies, and practices, connect LGBTQ peers through TrevorSpace, their safe social network, and conduct research to capture the experiences of LGBTQ young people.

826 Valencia

826 Valencia is dedicated to supporting under-resourced students ages six to eighteen with their creative and expository writing skills and to helping teachers inspire their students to write. Their programs are structured around the understanding that great leaps in learning can happen with one-on-one attention and that strong writing skills are fundamental to future success.

Happy giving and happy holidays!
